This week for week 8, we had to change up some stuff for our learning. A new thing we had adjusted to our class learning was Project Base Learning. Today I worked on a English activity which needed searching on google. We had to create a mini seminar on any animal. I haven't finished but soon I will blog it for you guys. :))
I am a Year 8 student at Glenbrae School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 7 and my teachers are Mrs Tofa and Mrs Raj.

Measurement problem we solved today
Again with another great maths session with our wonderful teacher. We had to solve this difficult problem about fences and the area. Mr.Simi is the main character in the problem. He wants the biggest space(area) to work in and to build his family's plantation. I suggested he could do a rectangle with his 180 m wire. I estimated 60 for the height and 30 for the width. I multiplied, and there I got the biggest area could add.

Measurement - Week 7-6 Non Unit Standard
Today's Math's session was super cool. We had to measure things using non unit standards. My group and I marked places so we know every metres we went through. We measured the width =223 and we measured the length =505. This was the perimeter of our school field. It was super fun playing around and it made me gain a lot of knowledge.
Thank you Letter - Sponser
I would like to give a big thank you to Reece painters for sponsoring our amazing prizes. I got beautiful puddings my kind teacher made for my prize and it was super delicious. I came 3rd but the puddings were worth it. 1st & 2nd got hampers full of treats. It was such a great experiment to go through during the lockdown and I just want to say one more time, thank you ! :))

Whanau Challenge Day 5 - Acts Of Kindness
Room 7 Waka - He Wake Eke Noa
Another super fun task completed. Here is a waka representing my class. Has a little hawk in the front and I used the colours, red, black and white to colour in the lines and the font. He Waka Eke Noa , means everyone on the waka work together. They paddle with each other and its all about team work. Enjoy :)
Maths Week 5 - Measurement Word Problems
Measurement tasks for Friday 5 March 2021
Try to solve the problems independently.
You may use diagrams to explain your thinking.
We will discuss as a group what strategies you used to solve the problems
WALT: use multiplicative and/or additive strategies to solve measurement problems.
A student measures her height with a 30 cm long ruler. She finds that she is four and a half rulers high. How tall is she in cm? 135cm
A student is told that they are 1.45 m tall. How tall is this in cm? 145cm
If it takes 3 hours to drive 210 km, what was the average speed of the journey? 70 km/ph
A class of 28 is split into small groups. How big can those groups be? 2 and 4
A car, travelling at an average speed of 70 km/ph is in a journey of 210 km.

b. If he can swim at a rate of 60 strokes per minute, how many minutes could he swim across the lake in? 56 minutes
c. Can he expect to beat the 2015 champion swimmer who crossed the lake in a time of 51 minutes and 48 seconds? No because if he does 60 strokes per minute he would finish in 3060 strokes

Maths Problem - 2021 Week 5
300 ml x 172 people
100 x 300 = 30000
70 x 300 = 21000
2 x 300 = 600
30000 + 21000 = 51000
51000 + 600 = 51600 ml of water

1 jug = 2L
5 jugs = 10L
25 jugs = 50L
1 jug = 1.6L
