Acrostic Poem

Acorns and shiny leaves are falling just like rain

Under the tall trees falling down are old and  golden leaves

Trees are old, trees are tall, leaves are colorful and very small

Under my feet are crunchy and crispy leaves

March the 1st is Autumn. Autumn is when the bright leaves fall

Near me are old and beautiful leaves.

My Trip to Rangitoto Island

On Wednesday the 15th of November 2017,room 9, room 10 and some of room 8 and room 7 went on a trip to Rangitoto Island to learn how Rangitoto Island was formed from  a series of volcanic eruptions under the sea.

First we went on the bus.On the bus we all sang lots of songs and played lots of games,We did a million jokes and we all laughed like we were silly clowns. It was a fantastic and amazing time on the bus.

Next we went on the ferry. Pitara, Mena, Mason, Jodacei,Penelope and I were  in a group,so we had to set together on one table. We had a elated time because we played I spy,we slept on each other and we saw Kelly Tarltons and One Tree hill. When I was on the ferry, I felt like I had know fear of going  on ferry anymore.

Then we arrived at Rangitoto Island, we went on the bridge. It was so terrifying when I walked on  it. My legs were wobbling like spaghetti and my arms froze into 2 cubes.

After the bridge,we went to the shelter. We took a quick snack and on we went to reach the top of the mountain. When me and my group member Mason reached  half way we were so tired that we were going to faint. Mason and I took a 50 seconds break and we carried on walking. When I got on the rock stairs I tripped and hurt my leg hitting the pointy part of it and Mason disappeared. I lied on the stairs and waited until he came back but he didn’t. Only 1 person came to me and it was my friend Kestrel.When I was lying on the stairs he started shouting out “HELP SOANE’S DEAD!!!”

When Kestrel was still shouting, my captain Mrs Lavender came and helped me. She gave me water  to drink and I felt better,then I carried on walking. When I stood up I just ran like I was a cheetah and reached the summit. When I reached the summit I quickly got my lunch and ate it all.

After we had lunch we went back down the hill and went on the ferry.

I would like to go to Rangitoto Island again.THE END

Eggs are eaten by predators

Artificial lighting confuses the hatchlings

Turtles are herbivores and some are carnivores
Under the sea they choke on plastic bags
Rubbish gets blown into the ocean
Turtle Excluder Devices help Sea Turtle escape
Leatherback turtle is killed to make boots
Everyone should help save the Sea Turtle

SHARK DAY

Kelly Tarltons

On Wednesday the 25th of October, Room 9 and Room 10 went on a trip to Kelly Tarltons to learn about marine animals and conservation of animals.

First we went to visit Robert Falcon Scott's hut.Robert Falcon Scott was a famous explorer.He explored Antarctica. He was a british royal navy officer and an experienced  adventurer who led two famous expeditions to the Antarctic locales. In the hut we saw bunk beds , clothes, a gramophone, a piano that was dusty, old books, utensils, can of beans and a projector.

Next we went onto the conveyor belt. When I went on the conveyor belt, Gideon and I felt so dizzy, we all looked like we were very,very drunk.

After we went to see the cute penguins. It was  hilarious when one penguin was screaming at the other penguin. We saw about five beautiful penguin eggs that were laid on the stones.I had a fantastic time at Kelly Tarltons.

I would like to go Kelly Tarltons again.
