Statistics

For the last 2 weeks, room 10 has been studying about statistics.Our focus question was:What is the ethnic makeup of Glenbrae School?

We worked in groups of 4’s and we carried out an interview within our class to find out the ethnic makeup of our class first.

In Room 10 we have 6 ethnic groups. Those are NZ Maori, Tongans, Samoans, C.I Maori, Indians, Chinese. Out of 28 students we have 3 NZ Maori,11 Tongans,6 Samoans,6 C.I Maori,1 Indians,1 Chinese.

Dufy Role Model Assembly

Yesterday,Glenbrae School had its Duffy Role Model assembly.Our Role
Model was Sam James Verlinden. He is also known as Sam V.Sam V is famous
as a musician, songwriter, singer and actor.


Sam spoke to us about the important of books and reading because
he felt that these were the things which helped him become successful musician.


Sam studied at the Auckland university of technology and attained a
boisterous degree and communication.


We had a lot of fun with Sam because he taught us a game called
BOOM BOOM FA. This game unveiled clapping.After we played the
game he gave out the Duffy book prizes to each class.

I felt very joyful when Sam V sang a song called “What have you done for me”.

Trip to the Super Market

It was my first time going to the supermarket with my class. My class and I traveled to the supermarket to learn about healthy foods and what healthy foods can make a difference in your life.

A few seconds later my class and I appeared in the supermarket. We had a lovely lady named Adele to show us what to do and what not to do. My class had to all take a book to lay our paper on and a pencil.
We were all splitted up into 5 groups. My group included my best friends Wuatai, Pinomi, Aj, Maria, Victoria and Mrs Elia. Each group took a trolley and zoomed off to there first stations. 

Next my group and I were at our first station, Dairy Milk Products. We had to grab different types of food that makes milk. I got  yogurt, butter or cheese. I chose Rolling Meadow tasty grate cheese for my everyday healthy food. I took it and read the protein information. There were 5 or 6 information on all the food products we had to write on our paper, The energy,Fat total, Sugar, Sodium, Dietary Fiber and the Calcium.

My group were so fast we already reached the last station.
We were helping each other and making sure that everyone was finished for our next task. Finally my group and I finished. Our final task was to write as many fruit names in the right colored section. For example we had to write apple in the white section because the inside of an apple is white.

A few minutes later my whole class was finished and appeared near the entrance door. Because we  did a very great job, Adele gave my whole class and I, a new lunch box. I had so much fun learning about healthy food and had a great time helping my friends. 

Later on that day my class and I went back to school and wrote about what we had learnt and how much fun we had.
